LED technology is essentially the same technology you are used to viewing on your TV. LEDs are Light Emitting Diodes that are clustered in a 3 color grouping of Red Green and Blue. When electricity is applied to these diodes, the gas inside reacts with different colors. As we all learned in grade school, when you mix these colors you create new colors. This in a nutshell is what LED technology is but follow along for a more detailed description of all the moving parts...
when it comes to deciding if you want to install a LED Video wall or a video wall, there are a few things to consider.
LED video wall is a seamless LED video monitor, as where a video wall is typically a series of smaller LED TVs that have been mounted together, and special software is used to break up the image between the multiple displays.
PROS and CONS:
PRO- LED video wall has a much longer lifespan.
PRO- LED video wall has a seamless image, video wall has a very noticeable line between TVS.
PRO- LED video wall can be scaled up to any size.
CON- LED video walls tend to consume more energy and put off more heat.
CON_ smaller configurations of under 12 feet, do not have the resolution of smaller LED TVs.
In short, MM pixel pitch is the distance between a grouping of LED pixels on a screen. The tighter the cluster of pixels ( or smaller pixel pitch) the higher the resolution of the image.
The size and resolution of your LED video wall is dictated by the Pixel pitch X number of panels stacked together. each model varies in size and quantity of pixels per module, however, the resolution of a specific screen can be calculated by multiplying the number of pixels in a module x the number of modules on a video wall.
How long will your LED display last? In nearly every industry, from retail businesses to concert halls to corporate centers, decision makers need to evaluate the return on investment (ROI) of their LED signage. In most cases, potential buyers go straight to the obvious place: the LED manufacturer’s spec sheet. The industry standard for LED lifespan is 100,000 hours, or about 10 years, and most people assume that’s how long their display will last. But it’s not quite that simple.
The 100,000-hour figure assumes that every diode will be running at full brightness, consistently — which, on an LED screen, is virtually never the case. The lifespan figure can also be misleading because it indicates when a diode degrades to half-brightness, not completely dark. Many other variables affect an LED display’s lifespan; you can’t rely solely on the number on the diode spec sheet.
One of the best reasons to invest in an LED video wall is the low maintenance as you have read, the lifespan of the LED is 100,000 plus hours so the screen itself has almost no maintenance other than periodic cleaning.
Cleaning is as simple as seeping a brush over the front to whisk away any dust that has accumulated. Most screens have an IP65 rating so liquids will not penetrate the surface. in the event that a champagne spray gets on the screen, it can be simply washed off with a moist cloth.
Component maintenance such as power supplies or video processors occasionally requires service. Pulsar Installers are happy to train your staff in these maintenance procedures, but we also offer service packages for hands-off maintenance.
